A senior officer that leaped to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Bravery.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he pressed a blade to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.

Brown launched his attack as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were conversing to a driver following a vehicle incident in the area in summer 2023.

Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.

"Officer stabbed," the officer stated over his radio.

Officer-mounted and vehicle camera footage made public by the force depicted Brown, wearing in black with a hood covering head, rush to Sergeant Foster from behind with a blade outstretched.

He ran into the officer who lost balance and fell to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft pulled his stun gun and waited for a safe opportunity, bringing the struggle to an finish.

Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Can I get help on my throat here, I'm bleeding in the neck."

Sgt Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his throat and further wounds to his arms and torso, while Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Officials said Sgt Foster used his bare hands to control his partner's blood loss before emergency responders reached the scene.

The new honor arrives after the three officers received organizational Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local union branch in spring 2024.

They additionally received a Regional Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The responses of each policeman in the end saved themselves and resulted in no members of the public experienced any injuries."

Brown was sentenced to an psychiatric detention in spring 2024, according to authorities.
