Devastated Hong Kong Locals Stunned as Major Inferno Engulfs Housing Complexes

Young scholar an eyewitness was among the numerous residents drawn to the scene of a tragic fire that engulfed large portions of the eight-block Wang Fuk Court in the region's Tai Po area.
A minimum of 36 residents have died in Wednesday's catastrophic inferno currently, with hundreds still not located, leading to expectations that this number will likely grow.
"This is a tragedy," the witness commented about the blaze, mentioning that he had observed a victim being transported from the location.
In excess of a thousand additional people were forced to vacate the complex as the blaze expanded, with some making their way to temporary centers that have been established to accommodate them.
The inferno is gradually being contained, but officials report they are uncertain when it will be fully put out.

Harry Cheung, who has resided in block two of the housing complex for more than four decades annums, described listening to "a very loud noise" and observing flames break out in a nearby block.
"I immediately went back to pack up my belongings," the 66-year-old resident remarked.
"I am uncertain how I feel right now. I'm just considering about where I'm going to rest this evening because I probably cannot go back home."
While the source of the blaze that engulfed the multiple tall buildings remains unknown, the flames are suspected to have rapidly expanded through the construction framework that surrounded the complexes, which were undergoing improvements.
Some people have expressed anger that such a significant incident could have taken place and questioned the emergency measures.
"In cases where there's a brush fire, they will utilize helicopters and release extinguishing materials, but why is there not any action and how can they allow additional structures burning?" asked one more inhabitant of Wang Fuk Court.
"Our neighborhood is so proximate to the emergency response center and we thought the blaze could be controlled quickly, but now the blaze has expanded. I'm so disappointed," she explained.
The woman stated that she had been given no instructions from the local administration on where to obtain help.
Several Tai Po inhabitants had delivered necessities to the affected individuals - consisting of many of warm layers and warming devices.
During interviews about their sentiments regarding the tragedy, inhabitants voiced that "authorities is ineffective" and that they were "extremely distraught".
